I need some advice new to having and using health insurance.

I have had bad allergies all my life, as of late they have started to impacting my breathing. So I asked my PCP about it and she gave me a referral allergy & asthma Consultant.

I called and before making appointment asked them if they took my insurance & also what would my copay be. She took a bout five minutes and told it would be $55. I said perfect and made my appointment.

Couple of weeks later I make my appointment and once again verify if they take my insurance.

Everything goes well, I end up being allergic to everything and I get my prescriptions and such.

Fast forward a month I got a $700 bill with a hand written note on the bill saying that i’m in a limited network of EPO/HMO and they don’t accept my insurance.

What do I do in this situation? I spoke with my insurance company (Cigna) and they are not in network and neither is the doctor. I pay 400+/ month if weren’t going to take my insurance I would have never went there.
