I was using a state medicaid plan (Arizona-AHCCCS) but just got my card for my new insurance through a new employer. Do I need to cancel my old plan, or will it just expire at the end of the year and that’s the end of it?

So I’ve been in school for a long time now and I was on the Arizona medicaid plan (AHCCCS) while I was there. I finally got my first “adult job” which both offers medical insurance and puts me well over the income limit for medicaid. I’m not really sure what my next step is supposed to be though.

I obviously didn’t renew my medicaid stuff for next year, but I’m not sure if I am supposed to do any kind of cancel or withdrawal from the program to make sure I don’t get in trouble for being on medicaid and my new private insurance (BCBS) at the same time. I just got my BCBS card in the mail today and I wanted to go online and make sure it’s active, but it told me the page to create an account was unavailable so I’ll have to try that again in the morning.

So my question is do I need to go on the AHCCCS website somewhere and cancel my plan, or do I not have to do anything and then just make sure not to use it if I go to the doctor between now and the end of the month/year?
