I don’t have any hours (PTO, sick, FMLA) left and I might need another surgery soon. Thinking of possibly quitting next month. I live in Oregon, I have HDHP. My work says they can’t give me any more hours.
I’ve already met out of pocket max on my employer insurance. If I’ll be getting surgery and seeing a lot of docs this year, would I save more money going for the COBRA and continuing off of my out of pocket met plan than applying for Medicaid and starting from 0?
If I’m trying to take advantage of my employer insurance as long as possible, is it better to quit in the beginning of the month rather than the end of the month or does it not matter?
Can I apply for Medicaid in my state whenever or is there an “enrollment period”?
Is COBRA still really expensive, like $500-700 a month?
Thanks all.
