I’m stocking up on life saving meds and my insurance company called and asked if that was the case, I lied and told them I wasn’t. What could go wrong?

I have amazing insurance that pays 100% of my prescription costs, But I don’t know how long I’ll be on it and my meds are very expensive without insurance. So I decided to stock up as much as I possibly can in case I ever lose this insurance. I get a 30 day supply each time and am able to call 7 days before it runs out to refill. It’s mailed to me, so by the time I get it I have about 5 extra days which has added up to a couple months of extra supply over the past year.

Today I got a call from the insurance company asking if this is what I was doing and I lied and said no, and that the reason I order as soon as I can is because it takes awhile for the meds to arrive in the mail. I’m wondering what could possibly happen if they find out that I’m stocking up? Is it illegal, is it considered fraud? Can they withhold my medication if they find out I have stocked up?

Should I take this as a hint to slow down on the stocking up? Will they be paying more attention to my prescriptions? Or is this a situation where no one really cares so no one looks into it too much?
