Income changes with CSRs

Hi all!

I’m graduating this March (yay!) and have an internship lined up for the spring, which I’m hoping will turn into a full time position in the late summer. The internship does not offer benefits, but the full time position would.

My school health insurance expires at the end of April, and I’m expecting to get kicked off Medicaid in April as well when the state of emergency ends since I’ll be making more than $1500/month at the internship.

I’m looking into marketplace plans for May 1, and if I calculate my income with the internship pay rate through the end of 2021, I’ll qualify for CSRs. If I’m hired full time, I’ll need to cancel my marketplace plan and my 2021 income will not qualify me for CSRs anymore.

What generally happens in that situation? Would I have to pay back the amount I saved from CSRs? (I’m not concerned about the premiums since I think that will be rectified on my 2021 taxes.)

Thank you!!

(Zip code 46220, income for 9 months at the internship rate: ~$18,000, age 27 female with high-cost prescriptions)
