I was married in August of 2021. Immediately after getting married, I notified my insurance of the qualifying life event and added her to my insurance. Today, I logged into my benefits portal to change something in my retirement and saw where my wife was listed as a dependent, but was no longer covered on my health, vision, and dental. I immediately called my company’s HR number, and was told that I never verified the dependent with their designated third party. I was told I received multiple notice letters and the deadline was 12/7. I have not seen the letters, and feel like there is no way I would’ve ignored them if I did but I digress.
My company’s HR told me to call the third party verification service and check to see if I could upload the documents. She said it probably wouldn’t be an issue once I provided the documents, but open enrollment ended on the 1st for both of our jobs. I’m currently on hold for the verification company, but has anyone else had this happen before? Will I actually be able to place her back on my insurance?
Sorry for the frantic post, I’m just extremely nervous. Any insight or advice is helpful.
