A close friend of mine had his family drop him from his health insurance on “accident.” He’s 23 years old living in California and his situation is a bit unique, as his family did not intend to drop him from their plan, but due to not being able to pay for it, he somehow got dropped from the plan while everyone else in his home has health insurance (I don’t know how).
He still lives with his family and even works in their restaurant, but as of the moment, he is uninsured and is having some concerning health issues. I’m not sure whether or not to advise him to get school-associated life insurance (he’s a student), somehow get back on his family’s plan, or attempt to apply to Medi-Cal/Medicaid.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My apologies for not having more details like the insurance company he was previously enrolled in (I’ll update this post if I find out anything else).
