Is an injury considered a pre-existing condition?

I just switched to a new job and won’t have health insurance until 3/1. I injured my knee and was given a referral to get an MRI from the urgent care. I’m not sure if I can wait 3 weeks and am willing to pay for the MRI out of pocket. My question is…if I get the MRI prior to 3/1 will my new insurance be required to cover the cost of any services that may be (but hopefully not) needed (surgery, physical therapy) or because the injury occurred prior to coverage beginning, are they able to refuse?
