My Aetna health plan says that it excludes “non-surgical treatment of TMJ”. I was recently diagnosed with TMJ and the pain and effects are substantial and need treatment. I am confident that my doctor would back up that this treatment is medically necessary.
I’m wondering if there are any ways, or strategies, to overcome a plan exclusion like this?
