Is this a qualifying life event?

So, for the 14 months I’ve been on my wife’s insurance plan through her employer. During this time I’ve also been employed full time, but her insurance was better so we opted to both be on her plan.

My last day at my previous job was February 18th. I took a week off in between that job and the job I started today (March 1st).

I’m asking question because the insurance coverage at my new job is great and has no premium at all for me, but if I were to add my wife it would be $812 a month. We’ve decided that the best option would be for each of us to be on our own insurance plans, so I want to make sure that if I jump off of her insurance and join my new company’s insurance plan we wouldn’t be paying for hers and mine through the remainder of the year. I’ve done a good amount of research online, but can’t get solid answers out of everything I’ve read.

Thanks so much in advance!
