I currently am under blue cross federal, and I am looking to get jaw surgery to fix a class 3 underbite. It would also help me with my breathing issues and sleep apnea. The main issue I have is that the top surgeon that everyone recommends is not in network with BCBS. I found an insurance my employer offers that has him in network, but the surgery is only covered pending prior approval.
Is there any route I can take to determine if I would have a chance at getting it covered without making the full commitment of switching during open season? I don’t want to switch insurances only to find out that there would be no chance of it being covered and be stuck with them for a full year because it would affect other areas of my life such as medication and stuff, changing the costs.
