Hey all. I’m currently under a contract/am temp-to-hire worker with my contract date ending the end of January. The temp agency I’m under though just had a 1 week open enrollment period that ended earlier today, which I totally had forgotten about. Apparently they’ve changed vendors or something for 2021 so the benefits I currently have (basically just health insurance) wouldn’t roll over.
My boss has assured me that I’ll be converted to full-time after the contract ends because it’ll be cheaper for the company that way and I’m truly hoping it’s the case lol. So I’m looking at not having insurance for January basically. Which is sort of scary to think about with COVID cases rising again and colder temps, but I didn’t have insurance April – June 2020 and was ok, albeit I quarantined pretty well. I don’t have any chronic illnesses that require consistent medical attention and medication so I should be fine….right? The cheapest plan I’d be able to get from Covered CA would be ~$166 if rates stay the same.
