As part of prenatal trimester blood work my OB ordered STI testing. The order says “HIV 1/2 Antibody/Antigen screen”. Then, I got a bill from LabCorp that insurance doesn’t consider 87535 and 87538 as preventive.
In the past I took HIV test ordered during an annual physical and CPT code G0475 is considered preventive.
Is it correct that LabCorp is the one that determined the CPT code to bill my insurance? My doctor said it’s up to the lab and the lab keeps trying to say it’s up to my doctor. I’m hoping lab could change it to G0475, but I don’t know how likely that would be since the test has been done.
