Looking for a plan for rest of March, what do I do?

I recently started a new job, but my company provided insurance doesn’t kick in until April 1. And my old job’s insurance ended at the end of February.

I’m looking to get covered ASAP because I don’t wanna risk not having coverage for this long. One option I’m considering is extending my old coverage through COBRA, but this is super expensive so I’m hesitant.

I did a search for private plans online and put in my contact info, and now I’m getting phone calls every five minutes. I’ve picked up a couple and discussed their available plans, which are pretty solid from how they describe. However, they are asking that I provide payment information in order to apply, and they said they can’t send me documentation on the plan until after I apply for it. Is this common practice or are these scams?

Looking for any advice / feedback here on navigating this situation. Thanks!
