My fiance and I have a 2 year old son, she is currently pregnant and on Medicare. The pregnancy and everything leading up to it is covered, however we intend to get married at some point this year.
I was laid off last year due to Covid. Currently have a job offer, but the kicker is the health insurance. They cover some of the individual plan, so its around 300 a month or so to cover myself. This is Anthem BCBS. However, thr family plan is 1100 a month. They don’t cover any of it. They made it sound as though I could have the kids on the insurance and be under 6 or 7 hundred, still a bit steep, but then the spouse will still need insurance.
She is going to stay at home mom for quite awhile, so there’s no option of her being covered by an employer anytime in the near future. What are some of the better options for her to be insured once we’re married? I’m also trying to figure out if it’d be cheaper or make more sense for the kids to be on another insurance as well with her. This just fell in my lap and I’m not well enough versed in insurance to know where to begin looking to get quote numbers, copay information etc.
Lastly, we don’t intend to indefinitely hold off on our marriage just for the sake of maintaining Medicare. We’d eventually have to get something figured out.
TLDR/ need help finding insurance options to cover spouse and possibly kids as well because the premium through a potential job opportunity is too high for us.
