marketplace gold v. silver plan…. silver seems too good to be true?? don’t know if i’m missing something??

enrolled in a gold plan because it covered my insulins and had a zero deductible. it did not show that the silver plan covered what i am currently prescribed, but after checking the formulary, just saw they do.

silver plan is 350 a month, but will be much less after the tax credit (currently not working so i am in the gap in a state that hasn’t adopted the Medicaid expansion, but will be working very soon).

anyway, silver is $0 deductible and 1200 “Maximum Out of Pocket for Medical and Drug EHB Benefits (Total)” does this cover everything? are there things that wouldn’t be considered under this that i would be out for? it’s 25% coinsurance for most things, so it’d be pretty front loaded with costs, but between medications and both endocrinology and mental health visits… i’d probably hit that relatively quick and then everything over would be covered 100%? just want to make sure i’m getting this right.

gold is also 0 deductible, around 370 a month, flat copays instead of coinsurance, ranging from 15 to 350 bucks for various services, but has a whopping 7900 deductible. i’m trying to think of scenarios where this is a better plan but i honestly cannot. i feel dumb for not doing a ton of research before choosing a plan and for not understanding how this is possible??
