My Dad was taken to the ER after he had severe breathing problem. He is insured with Medi-cal. But the 911 took them to the nearest emergency which is Kaiser Parmenante, Santa Clara. It’s an out of network provider and we were told all emergency cases are covered. After he was stabilized, Kaiser reached out to the In network hospitals, O ‘Connor, but they didn’t have any seat. Apparently they are doing this everyday to check on a seat. My dad was diagnosed with severe heart disease and blockage in the arteries and needs bypass, open heart surgery. He is being screened for that and some tests are taking longer. It’s been more than a week he is in the hospital. We are expecting a surgery date within 1-2 days after all his test results are back. He is in critical state still but stable for a hospital transfer.
In the meantime, yesterday one of the Kaiser person called me to say that O’connor has a bed available do we want to move my dad. It’s the weekend and I couldn’t reach any Medi-cal representative to discuss the process if we don’t want to move him at the last moment. The Kaiser team cannot guarantee that if we decide not to move him, Medi-cal will cover the cost. The bed was available yesterday and we refused. They will check again today till his surgery as per there agreement with Medi-cal.
What happens if we don’t want to move him at the very last moment before his surgery?
