I had posted this before and am not sure what happened-trying again.
I was covered by Medicaid in 2019. When I got a new job, I went on group health insurance and never used the medicaid again. My new job’s salary is outside of the qualifying income range, and I distinctly remember being told at the time that Medicaid was canceled by an insurer or the state health exchange, but am unsure by who. I only used my group health insurance and never thought anything of Medicaid since then.
Last week, I received a tax form stating that I was covered by Medicaid for all of 2020. I’m not sure if it was an oversight or if I actually was covered, but I know that they never paid for any medical care because I didn’t have to use any thankfully.
Has anyone encountered this situation before? I know that I need to call the appropriate state agency, but is there anything specific I should be aware of or do?
Thanks!!!
