Missing codes in itemized hospital bill?

I asked for an itemized bill from the hospital so I can review every charge before paying the $800 bill. The actual cost is $13k.

There are 5 things in the itemized list that don’t have codes next to them. I cross referenced the insurance EOB and they matched up with the items that the EOB listed as “not covered”.

The hospitals itemized bill just labeled the column as “Code” but I’m assuming these are CPT codes used to bill the insurance? I called the hospital’s billing dept and they couldn’t answer my question and referred me to the medical dept who then sent me back to billing!

I just want to know why some items in the bill don’t have a code. This is preventing me from looking them up, and I want to make sure the insurance is billed right so we don’t over pay. Am I asking a stupid question here?
