My mother had a heart attack last week and is in the MICU at a local hospital. My father is now planning to move her off life support and into hospice care. When the hospital attempted to bill her insurance, it turns out she only has a hospital plan that pays out a certain amount for every day she’s there. The plan doesn’t actually “cover” the stay or pay any of the claims. I do not live with my parents and my father is on Medicare. My mother does not qualify for medicare or medicaid. I’m not sure what our options are, we live in Florida.
