Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the deductible/out of pocket limits for HSA plans of Anthem BCBS. Location NC. Mom of 1 had a delivery for baby number two. Baby number one is with the health insurance of the dad. When baby two was born, mom added newborn to HSA plan through employer. Before baby number 2 was added, enrollment for 2022 included baby 1, staring 2022. During that submission for newborn 2021 coverage, baby number 1 was added by accident. Employer corrected with insurance, but all claims from delivery and for baby 2 were calculated as if Mom had family coverage starting the birthdate of baby number 2. Mom asked insurance to re-calculate existing approved claims so that lower out of pocket can be applied. But CSR are not understanding and say that they gonna sent 1 claim for recalculation but it may come back unchanged since it was calculated correctly. This can take 45 business days. I’m trying to explain that the baby has no separate deductible and moms deductible /out of pocket applies, but no one seems to understand. Could you please check and see what you think about this situation?
