My mom hurt her back this week, and it is definitely nerve related(Dr confirmed). She cannot walk right now and is in a ton of pain. She urgently needs an MRI so she and her doctor can make desicions about a possible surgery. The doctor requested an MRI. Her insurance company wants her to get an x Ray first. She is in immense pain, cannot currently walk, she’s immuno compromised, and of.course this is a pandemic. I don’t want her to have an unnecessary x Ray as it will be painful to get her there and x Ray’s won’t show a problem with a nerve, they will just say “ok you need an MRI”, and it will expose her to the germs in another doctor’s office. We want insurance to authorize the MRI without this step. She is refusing to do the X-ray and I’m worried she could end up in a wheelchair permanently. She has cigna, I would really appreciate any advice!
