Hello! I am currently a state employee in Florida (I work at a university here). My husband is my dependent, so we are both covered through BCBS of Florida. He was offered a job at a university in Iowa, so we will need to switch insurance providers. Having to move so far away and take care of family before re-settling, I am planning on quitting my current job in June. However, his position starts in August, so we will need coverage for the time in between. I was just told that as long as I work through the first of June, the month of June will be covered. Is this true? If so, that just leaves July and part of August that we would need to worry about. In this case, what would be our best option? PeopleFirst of Florida told me to look into COBRA. Is this a good idea? Or is there an alternative route that would be better? Thanks so much in advance!
