My insurance requires prior authorization for one of my controlled substance painkillers every 3 months. The authorization expired a week ago, and my medication is due to be filled tomorrow. My doctor completely forgot to submit the auth, and now it will take at least 2 weeks to be processed.
Can I pay out of pocket for it? Or is this not allowed with CII medications?
