So my husband and I currently pay for insurance through Bright Health. We purchased the plan through the Healthcare Marketplace. We got a phone call for a telehealth mental health appointment this morning, and they informed us that they are no longer taking our insurance. I called the main office and it turns out, our insurance company isn’t paying any of the claims sent out by our doctors or the doctors they refer us to. The insurance doesn’t cover any other mental health providers. And as we’re established with our current primary care providers, I don’t want to have to change doctors, considering most of them are an hour away.
We called the marketplace, and they apparently have not had any complaints from doctors about the Insurance company not paying. And we have to continue paying for the insurance, even if they don’t have any providers in the area.
What can I do in this situation? I can’t change insurance without “reasonable cause” and I can’t afford to pay my doctors out of pocket for every visit.
