My friend booted out of her healthcare plan with Anthem.

She has had Anthem for years, same plan that covers very generously. Always paid on time. She has 2 teenage sons. One of them has Neurofibromatosis, a progressive disease. So far he only needs check up and thankfully he hasn’t needed treatments. She made an appointment to a specialist for gain weight (her son is very much behind in height/weight), it was a 8months wait to see the specialist and she learned the insurance booted her out when the doc called to say she wasn’t insured anymore. The appointment was cancelled. Anthem has tried to make her change plans a few times. This time they told her she is no longer insured because she hasn’t paid on time. It’s untrue, she can prove it. She spent hours on the phone with them, they said to be reinstated she needs to pay $4000 and sign up for a new plan. She found out she’s not covered at the moment. What is the best course of action in this situation? I really appreciate your feedback as I’m trying to support her as much as I can in this stressful time. She’s 49, her sons are 15, 13. Los Angeles CA 90077.
