Hello,
(English is not my mother language btw, so take it easy.)
I live in New Jersey, USA. I had an appointment with Dr.X past month in her office at the hospital for mental health. Before that, I looked it up to my health insurance website list of providers (United Healthcare) to be sure to pick and in-network provider. Found her to be on their network, scheduled it and had the consultation.
Now United Healthcare does not want to pay for it. They say she is in-network, but are considering the service as a out-of network. They affirm the billing name, NPI and address are not in their database. I went to the address stated on United Healthcare website to see the doctor.
What happened was the billing department used a hospital group NPI and name under Billing in the claim. I asked to them to resubmit the claim with only my provider’s name, address and NPI under billing. But I am not sure if they will do that.
Now I have a U$1000 bill and I don’t have money to pay. I cry everyday before sleep, cannot work well and I don’t know what to do, how to fight. I am a foreigner in this country so I don’t have the skills (and money) to nagivate through the health system.
What to expect?
Thank you for your time.
