My mom set me up with “MercyCare complete plan” before she died a couple years ago. I’m worried about it’s “expiration” so I called them and they said they couldn’t see any kind of expiration on my file. Will I ever have to “renew” eventually, or will it last indefinitely?

I’ve gone far too long knowing nothing about my insurance. I’m embarrassed to say it, but I’m just being honest. After my mom died, I continued to go to the same doctors clinic and two years later It dawned on me that I have insurance. Not even knowing how to figure out WHAT my health insurance plan even is, I called my doctor and he told me that it is “mercy care complete plan, managed by medicaid”

I worried that it would soon expire, so I called mercy care and asked “so how long will I have access to this healthcare plan, what date does it expire?”

And the person on the phone said they have the date the plan went into effect, but there wasn’t any sort of end date on file, it’s effectively “indefinite”. I’m confused on how that’s possible so I’m sure I’m missing something. Wouldn’t an end date or renew date make sense, so they can filter out people who no longer qualify? There’s no way I’m just good on health insurance forever.
