In a few weeks, I’ll be starting my new job and they’ve sent me my benefits package with health insurance plans to choose from. I personally have secondary insurance elsewhere, and am not concerned about coverage for myself. However, my fiancé is unable to work and getting his coverage through Medicaid at the moment which has not been a pleasurable experience, to say the least. We are getting married this September but are planning on eloping a bit sooner so that he can receive better health care.
What I need help with is deciding which plan will be best for us, considering that my (soon to be) husband will be hitting the deductible and out-of-pocket max almost immediately. Is it possible that he’ll be denied coverage from my health insurance because of his health issues?
I’ll be making about $55k/year, but due to the seasonal nature of my job, will have winters laid off but will continue receiving health insurance coverage. We live in upstate NY. Here’s a link to the plans I’ve been offered. (Excellus BCBS) I’m preeeetty sure I don’t want the Hybrid plan, but I’m honestly at a loss here and just want to make the best choice for us that I can. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!
