Need help choosing individual insurance Texas

Hello, I am self-employed and about to turn 26, so I’m looking for health insurance for when I get kicked off of my parents’ insurance. I live in the state of Texas, have no chronic health issues, and expect to earn ~$30,000 this year.

I’m looking at the healthcare.gov plans, and it looks like I should be able to get a nice subsidy, though I’m confused by the options. I have no idea if there’s a benefit for getting an EPO over an HMO. The cheapest EPO is $26 more than the cheapest HMO. In regards to deductibles, I go to the doctor so little that it doesn’t make sense to pay hundreds more per month to bring the deductible down a little bit. My main use for insurance would be in the case of an emergency, or if I developed some medical problem.

One of my biggest questions is what happens if I have an emergency while in a different state? I know emergency room services are covered, but what about things like surgery and treatments? What if I have to stay in the hospital for a while?

I would appreciate any advice or info anyone may have.
