Oxford metro, NY. First run in with a larger medical bill and insurance and just trying to figure it out. Went for an appointment to my in-network PCP, they did a blood draw there and sent the blood to an in-network lab. The billed amount for the lab work is $813. My EOB states the maximum amount is $0 and the amount paid out by insurance is $0. But it also says that the amount I owe the provider is $0. So what gives? Do I really not owe anything? Should I expect to get a bill from the lab? It was definitely an in-network lab because I checked with my insurance company.
The adjustment code listed for each test is D28C – Your provider is paid a fixed dollar amount under a contractual arrangement for laboratory services. This service is not eligible for separate reimbursement.
