Hi all, I just started with my new employer and am trying to decide between two plan options they have for Single insured plans. I’m in my late 20s, and am relatively healthy. However, I do have a history of an aggressive cancer (in my childhood). While I don’t have any serious complications from the illness, and while it was also a long time ago, I still like to be cautious about my health. For that reason I think Plan B seems like a better safety net because of the 0% coinsurance.. but honestly, I don’t know much about healthcare, so curious to see what others think. Thanks in advance.
PLAN A
Deductible $500
Coinsurance 20%
Out-of-Pocket Max $5,000
Office Visit (PCP) $25 copay
Office Visit $50 copay
Inpatient Hospital Services 20% coinsurance
Outpatient Surgical Services 20% coinsurance
Diagnostic Lab/X-Ray Services 20% coinsurance
Emergency Room Services $350 copay, then 80%
Prescription Drug (Retail) $15 | $45 | $80 25% to $350 max
Prescription Drug (Mail Order) $38 | $235 | $240 25% to $350 max
PLAN B
Deductible $1,500
Coinsurance 0%
Out-of-Pocket Max $6,000
Office Visit (PCP) $30 copay
Office Visit $60 copay
Inpatient Hospital Services 0% coinsurance
Outpatient Surgical Services 0% coinsurance
Diagnostic Lab/X-Ray Services 0% coinsurance
Emergency Room Services $400 copay, then 100%
Prescription Drug (Retail) $15 | $45 | $80 25% to $350 max
Prescription Drug (Mail Order) $38 | $235 | $240 25% to $350 max
