I left my old job (and health plan) for a new job this past month, and I made sure I would continue to remain covered under either the old or new plan. The handbook that was given to me for the new job says “new employees may enroll on their exact date of hire.” Great!
Now I just started last week and emailed HR about how to register, and they tell me it doesn’t start until 45 days after hire, which was changed at the start of this year. They sent me an outdated handbook (even though I was offered and accepted the job after the changes had been made).
I have multiple appointments scheduled next month that suddenly aren’t covered. Do I have any recourse? Or just do not nothing and get retroactive Cobra if something comes up?
Thankfully nothing major coming up.
