Hello, I’m seeking assistance in dealing with an issue concerning a medical claim. I have Horizon BCBS OMNIA (through my employer) and I used Zocdoc to find a gynecologist who performed my annual visit at the same time as they were checking for STDs. I recently received a bill from the lab they sent my samples to which is totaling almost $3k. I recently got on this insurance and I was on my mother’s plan before, so I had no idea about out of network labs being used and wrongfully assumed since the visit was covered by my insurance that my labs would be as well. This is something I will definitely remember for the future, but I am facing anxiety over paying this bill. It says the reason it was not covered was due to being out of network as well as lack of prior authorization. What steps can or should I take next in dealing with this? Is there anything I can do? I can send photos of the claim if needed.
