Hi everyone! I’m 22 and am currently a welder. I’ve been welding for the last two years and about 6 months in I started having strange health issues like hypertension, heart arrhythmia, and some other health issues pop out, out of the blue. Well, after running tons and tons of tests, I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that welding may be causing this. As I only feel like crap at work. So! I’m now starting to think about my options. As I am only 99% positive it’s welding that’s causing it, I don’t know for a fact that it is. So quitting and not having health insurance scares the hell out of me. Also! The new year just started and shocker, I’ve already hit my out of pocket maximum. So do I have to stay with my employer if I want to continue to receive care 100% covered by insurance since I’ve hit my out of pocket maximum? Or if I quit, I lose my insurance all together? Is there a loophole that could allow me to keep my insurance? Or at minimum keep it for a little while after I quit just to be a buffer between me finding a new job! Just so I don’t run the rust of having to be hospitalized if it so happens that it actually isn’t welding that’s causing all of this?
