We are living in NYC and both US citizens. My wife will soon be taking a break from work and vacationing with her parents in Korea for 3 months. I fully support this as she needs this well deserved break to decompress from the rat-race. So I’m helping her out any way I can to make this go smoothly.
The problem is her insurance will end. I’m not sure what insurance will be the best for her and our finances while she is over there. I’m a grad student under my schools insurance and it’s probably not the best for any international needs (I’m assuming). And I’d like to get her on a plan that won’t get us into trouble with any tax penalties.
After those 3 months she will be returning back to work and back on whatever employer insurance is provided with her new company if this helps with timeframe.
