My son was born with some health issues and was in the hospital after birth for about 2 months. While he was in the hospital at least 5 doctors charged him with one of the service codes 99253, 99254, or 99255. All ‘new patient/consult’ codes. My insurance is 100% after deductible and all doctors were in network. The problem is when I got the bill and eob, the insurance refuses to pay for more than one consult per hospital visit. This seems crazy to me, to think that in 2 months you wouldn’t see more than one doctor. Is this normal? Can I fight this?
