Hey everyone on here, im not sure if this is the right place to post about this, but I really have no idea what to do here.
So a little back story, i am insured under my parents insurance plan, however I attend college, and the school I go to requires you to opt out of their insurance or else they automatically sign you up for it. I accidentally missed the opt out deadline so I ended up being in that plan as well.
Here is the issue- Last year, I thought I may have had strep throat or covid19, so I went to an urgent care for a strep throat and covid test. The urgent care is in network for the insurance plan that I have under my parents. I gave them the details for that plan upon coming into the facility. I thought it was all good, that I didn’t need to pay anything but I’m now being notified of a 500$ bill via a letter saying that it will be sent to collections by then end of May. I then checked the website for the insurance company (under my parents), which said that the claim was denied for the SF code, that I had a different primary care provider.
So anyone have any advice at all about what I could do, I dont want this to go to collections, as it will ruin my credit score, and I dont want to pay it because I’m sure that my insurance should cover it, and. I only have 5 days. Help me out please?
