Hello everyone. I’m not sure what flair to add to this question so I left that part blank.
I am a few years from retirement from the fire service. I have family coverage thru my employer. My wife’s job will be offering assistance for a medical sharing plan as a benefit (Christian health care and the like) later this year.
We have a child that is had some significant health issues as a child but is now in maintenance mode. That issue is what makes the medical sharing options not really an option, as they’ll cover his issues after usually 3 years. The cost to get to that 4th year is far to high to afford.
My question is this. Can we begin to utilize her new health insurance option while still utilizing our current insurance thru my employer? This would allow us to make it thru the first 3 years of the prorated coverage with the medical sharing plan, then transition to hers when I retire?
I don’t know if I clarified this well enough but if I can elaborate, please let me know. Thank you for your assistance.
