I signed up for a health insurance plan with Highmark thru Pennie a few months ago. This month I lost my job and got a new job thankfully fast. I qualified to receive a lower premium rate thru Pennie based on my income at the other job. I will be making $5,000 less annually at the new job.
I was going to call Pennie and report my decrease in earnings to potentially lower my premium more. It will be more of a struggle for me to afford the premium now that I make less money. My friends are telling me that I don’t have to report my change in income to Pennie because they have access to my taxes when I file next year, so they’ll know what I grossed for this year. Is that true or do I still need to report to Pennie??? I sort of believe my friends only because Pennie did not require me to send them any proof of my income when I initially applied for the assistance.
