I had an emergency appendectomy 11/2020. I have a ridiculously good insurance plan thru United Healthcare and am usually very fortunate with medical issues. I had only one claim denied that was denied. It took months of back and forth with insurance and this physician bc they needed more Information to process the claim.
This information was sent in April and United denied the payment for 2 reasons: 1. It is considered part of another service performed the same day, or is not allowed as a separate charge. 2. Charges cannot be considered because documentation does not support the level of service billed.
United is also saying they should not be able to bill me, the patient bc the plan discount the provider has agreed to covers this error on their part.
I am looking in to guidance as to what I can do about making sure this bill goes away. Any information or suggestions would be helpful. I am in Colorado.
