Please help me try to get insured.

I quit my job at the end of 2021 to go back to school and I immediately did a lot of research to find an insurance plan to cover the majority of my needs before my current insurance was stopped. I picked a plan to ask about. The representative was clear in what the plan covered and did not cover. I mentioned that I have a psychiatrist to manage my medications and am clear that this is not a covered service.

Afterward I received a letter from underwriting that I could not be covered because of my “Dysthymic Disorder”. This seems to be depression-related, though I have been treated for anxiety, but close enough. I’m not sure if it matters but I have never required hospitalization or inpatient admission.

There are things insurance doesn’t cover all the time, right? If I understand this, agree and sign on the dotted line…why would I be denied? If representatives don’t know these facts, how do I proceed in finding an insurance plan as soon as possible. *Primal Scream*.

Thank you for any help. I’m in Mississippi for school if it helps.

ETA: I’m 44(F), I don’t know what my income will be – right now it’s about $1500 a month but will fluctuate (working PRN when called), zip code 39056
