Hi All,
I’ve received mail that UHC is trying to collect a $3K bill over a medication that was filled (Dupixent). Here’s the timeline –
10/3/20 – I get married 10/17/20 – RX is filled under my existing insurance, United health Care. I went thru Optum Specialty Pharmacy. Usually i pay $0 due to insurance coverage and coupon. 10/30/20 – I submit a life change and move onto my wife’s insurance, Cigna, which uses Express Scripts. We put down the 10/3 as the day of the life event, therefore retroactively screwing up the prescription that was filled mid month.
Sometime in December i received a bill in the mail that UHC is trying to collect for the balance of the medication. I’ve filed a reimbursement form but have been denied claiming that they don’t cover that medication at that pharmacy. Meanwhile, under express scripts, it looks like the medication is covered via delivery services. Anyone have an suggestions on how to approach this? Should I contact UHC first and try to see if they would cover it? When i log in, it explicitly says coverage ended on 10/3/20. Do i try to appeal or call Express Scripts and have them explain why i was denied? It’s an overwhelming process that I’m not sure how to approach. If anyone can help or have experience, please let me know.
Thanks!
