Asking for my boyfriend on an anon act, He is 25, hasnt been to the doctor in 6 or so years, recently got a job that promised benefits to all employees, part and full time. They talked it all up as great health insurance, now hes past his 90 day mark& was supposed to have benefits at the beginning of January. Been a month, now they’re telling them there is no plan? He brought home a paper from work with plans& pricing a couple weeks back. Went to work, said it was all fine& dandy, comes home today& says they said theres nothing for them… well why did they give him a paper stating all of the plans for part& full time workers if there is NOTHING. Hes pretty mad& so are his coworkers, im frustrated because i want him to see a dermatologist over some new concerning sized spots that popped up on his back. But now he doesnt have insurance & his work is basically screwing over everyone there saying they were going to get it, but now theres nothing? I looked into government funded plans & other things, but im not quite understanding. Im 21, still on my mom’s insurance, we meet our out of pocket very quickly into the year because im a type 1 diabetic& frequently have appointments. Im lucky to be on her insurance, but that doesnt help his situation. He makes a good amount of money yearly, between stocks& work, id say roughly 40,000, but he doesnt want to fork out 500 bucks a month on insurance with a high out of pocket. I think its worth it because if something were to happen, 10s of thousands of dollars medically would ruin his life, but i dont want to tell him how to spend his money. Assuming hes healthy& the only concerns are the new large spots on his back& the fact that he hasnt had a check up in half a decade, can someone please help me understand or give me suggestions as to what to do? We’re in florida, zip 33823, if it makes a difference.
