My PCP, Dr. A, moved out of state. He recommended another doctor, Dr. B, to be my new PCP. The office assigned me to a different doctor, Dr. C.
Cast of characters:
Dr. A–my former PCP, who just left, and who was great.
Dr. B–another doctor in the practice who Dr. A thought I would fit well with.
Dr. C–another doctor in the practice who the office assigned me to.
Meanwhile, just as Dr. A was leaving, I had a long-scheduled surgery.
The office is in the process of switching me from Dr. C (the one they assigned me), to Dr. B (the one my former PCP recommended). But I need a semi-urgent follow-up appointment to my surgery, so they scheduled me with Dr. C early next week. However, my insurance company has Dr. B listed as my new PCP, not Dr. C.
So, to summarize:
-Appointment with Dr. C early next week for semi-urgent surgery follow-up.
-BUT going forward Dr. B will be my PCP.
-Insurance Company already has Dr. B listed as my PCP.
Question: should I change my PCP on Insurance Company’s website to Dr. C temporarily, for the sake of my appointment next week, then change it back to Dr. B in a few days? Or is it OK to leave it the way it is, since they’re all in the same practice?
Thanks.
