So I just resigned from my old job, new one won’t have insurance kick in until August. I want to enroll in COBRA because I have a young baby and also I have a regular prescription I take.
I’m having a hard time finding any information on getting medical care during the gap between the end of coverage and receiving the COBRA packet. My medication is a controlled substance so I can only receive 30 days of it at a time and need to make a new appointment to get my prescription written each time. I’ve been looking all over for info on how to deal with this situation and can’t find anything! Am I just stuck paying out of pocket for all those medical costs I incur until the letter arrives or can I ask them to send me a bill and then ask them to bill insurance later after I am enrolled? If I have to pay out of pocket, will I be able to get reimbursed after since the coverage is retroactive? Appreciate any help!
