Questions About Living Without Insurance for About One Year – [VA – USA]

I’m planning on working part-time for about a year so I can focus on finishing up graduate school prerequisites. The problem is that my job does not offer health-insurance to the type of part time work which I’ll be employed as, I’m 26 and can’t be on my parents health insurance. Luckily, I’m healthy and only take medicine for ADHD which I’m planning on just playing for out of pocket using GoodRx. However, I’m confused about if I’ll have to pay for being uninsured? If my coverage ends midyear, in my case August of 2022, will I need to pay a fee during tax season of 2023? How does that work exactly? Am I required in VA to have health insurance? Thanks!
