I had to have emergency surgery a few weeks ago. I had a Cobra policy in place once I left my old job, until my new insurance kicked in. The policy terminated yesterday, but the emergency surgery was during when the Cobra policy was active.
I recently received a bill and the provider said it was my responsibility since I no longer have that policy, but shouldn’t the prior/Cobra insurance still cover it because it was during the period the policy was active? It makes no sense they are stating that, and of course I will chat with my prior insurance company. I just have not had a moment to call them.
