I just filed a claim for short term disability after opting in during open enrollment. I completed the enrollment documentation with proof I was opting in.
Apparently there was a follow up document (EOI) that needed to be completed to ensure officially opt in. I had no idea…
HR was said I was “supposed to have gotten a link” during open enrollment in August 2020 for the document. I never got the link and never knew to even look for it..
It seems I’m SOL as I was just denied the STD insurance bc (unknowingly) opt in process wasn’t complete.
I’m taking leave in a few months but it’s costing me about $4500…
I have a meeting set up with a few ppl in HR and benefits on Monday, but I’m not sure if anything can be done at this point..
OR do I have a case of HR not providing correct information?
