I have Aetna as my health insurance provider and I recently paid 6 claims because the site said I hadn’t paid them, they were old claims and once I realized I had paid at the time of service as well it was too late so I paid twice for the same services.
The day this happened I contacted two Aetna concierges to let them know and they assured me the payments would be cancelled. It’s been over 2 weeks and I was just informed that the payments weren’t cancelled and weren’t refunded, instead they were paid out to the providers. Once again I was told they were going to cancel the payments and I would only receive my money back IF the provider hadn’t cashed them in.
I feel super frustrated with this situation because it just feels like pure incompetence from Aetna’s side. At this point I’ve spoken to 4 different people and I’ve been assured everything is taken care of but when I further investigate the matter days later expecting a refund I’m told that none of that has happened and instead the payment has been sent to the providers.
What can I even do at this point? I feel like I’m just stuck talking to the incompetent people at Aetna’s customer service. I’m sure they just don’t know any better, but is that a way I can get in contact with anyone who does?
Has anyone had this happen to them? What did you do?
